Augusta & Adeline Women’s Motorcycle Gear Review: For Your Inner Badass

Updated: Oct 13

Let’s be honest: Finding comfortable, protective, and stylish women’s motorcycle gear can be daunting. We face limited sizes, fewer colour choices, men’s only options, and poorly fitting or unpractical designs. I’ve struggled to find gear that fits well since I started riding over 20 years ago.

So did Brittany Cook, who founded Augusta & Adeline to create women's motorcycle gear after realizing the options she wanted didn’t exist. With 16 years of experience at brands like Arc’teryx and Mosko Moto, she spent nearly three years designing the Augusta Jacket and the Adeline Chaps for functionality, durability, and style. I was stoked to try it!

Named after trailblazing sisters Augusta and Adeline Van Buren, who defied norms in 1916 by riding 5,500 miles across the U.S. on 1,000cc Indian motorcycles, Augusta & Adeline gear embodies their pioneering spirit. The brand celebrates their grit and determination with moto gear for your inner badass.

While the gear is not typically my “style,” as I’m usually decked out in a one-piece leather racing suit or head to toe in dirtbike or ADV gear, I appreciate other styles. I seriously enjoyed testing the jacket and chaps during a spin around North Vancouver and up the Sea to Sky Highway on a 2015 KTM SuperDuke 1290—a bike that's admittedly a bit too tall for me and presents challenges, like wrestling with the kickstand and dealing with footpegs that stab my calves whenever I put my foot down.

The Augusta Jacket

I knew it was special the second I slid it on. The fit is ACTUALLY perfect. To quote Ace Ventura: “Like a glove.” Said in Jim Carrey’s voice.

The longer length in the back offers coverage when leaning forward on the bike, and the two hidden zippered gussets at the hips allow for flexibility in more aggressive riding positions—plus, it looks hot. It tapers in at the waist and creates shape, even if you don’t have much. I’m 5’4”, about 135 lbs, and wore a size 6 in both, and I got compliments everywhere I went!

“Impressive,” said one of my friends. “Most jackets do not make a woman’s figure look like a woman on a bike. This gear works.”

The jacket has a waterproof coating, though I’m not sure how well it would withstand Vancouver's unpredictable West Coast weather. At $949 CAD, the price tag is steep—but it’s the kind of jacket you’ll own for life.

Made with 1.3mm thick full-grain matte black leather, it’s the kind of jacket you dream of owning forever—one that evolves and wears down, gaining character and softening into a treasured piece that tells the stories of all your best adventures. I want one and wish I could treat my sister to one, too!

I loved the zippered vents for airflow and the pockets for storage! Finally, pockets in the right place! My sister has a jacket that she loves except for one thing. NO POCKETS!!

Riding in this gear, you’ll feel (and look) badass, on or off the bike. Seriously, this jacket would make a killer going-out jacket!

Magnets at the lapels mean that the retro-styled, vintage collar won’t flap in the wind and stays put. You can wear it down on warmer days or buttoned up tighter on cooler days or when you want more protection.

The Adeline Chaps

Putting on the Adeline Chaps for the first time was super weird. I won’t lie—I didn’t get them at first. Why wear chaps instead of just pulling on regular riding pants? They initially felt uncomfortable, like I was missing a step in the dressing process. I had to line them up and re-adjust them a few times. But once I figured it out—everything clicked.

What really stood out was the highly articulated fit and Cordura reinforcements on the back of the calf. My SuperDuke’s footpegs usually leave me scrapes and bruises after rides, but these chaps kept me protected while giving me complete freedom of movement. They even have three zippered thigh pockets, perfect for stashing my phone, license, or other small items.

I wore them over my slimmer jeans, and they felt sleek without any bulk. Everything fit perfectly. The combination of full-grain leather and Dyneema denim makes these chaps not only protective but also lightweight. Zip ’em off when you arrive, roll ’em up and stash ’em—way easier than leathers or ADV pants.

Final Thoughts

The brand’s current lineup includes jackets and chaps, as well as casual wear like hats, sweatshirts, and tees.

Augusta & Adeline is more than gear—it’s a tribute to riders who paved the way. Riding in this lineup, you don’t just feel protected—you feel empowered.
